Psychotherapy and Counseling

Officepic.JPGDr. Klein offers psychotherapy and counseling services. Clients includes adults, children, adolescents, as well as couples and families. She utilizes both insight-oriented talk therapy and cognitive-behavioral techniques in her practice

Clients often ask how long they will "have to" be in therapy.  The answer is: it depends.  Sometimes someone will come for help with a specific problem and only want short-term (e.g., 12 weeks) help.  Other times, people are not sure what they are seeking and want to explore their background, looking for understanding and growth.  Still other times, a person might come in for a specific issue and then return at other times of high stress.  Dr. Klein follows the client's lead with no set rules about treatment length or frequency.

Psychotherapy Myths vs. Reality - APA

APA's Position on Psychotherapy Effectiveness

The general accepted psychotherapy practice is for a client to begin once weekly (or sometimes twice weekly) sessions of 45 - 50 minutes.  Fees are currently $250, with sliding scale arrangements on a per case basis, subject to change over time. Dr. Klein participates in the North Shore-LIJ Employee Plan and is an out-of-network provider for all other plans. Dr. Klein will provide the paperwork necessary for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits and healthcare reimbursement accounts.
